What is Adaptive Traffic Control System (ATCS)?

Adaptive Traffic Control System (ATCS) might sound confusing but it is to understand and use. What it does is it changes the traffic lights from fixed cycle to adaptive that is according to the traffic situation. It is called a smart interjection that responds to the real-time traffic data instead of outdated information.

The present traffic management revolves around the fixed light system that according to a predetermined way. The signals are open for a certain time after which they are closed. The biggest flaw in the present system is its rigid time frame that doesn’t understand the real situation. It won’t allow vehicular movement on a road if it is red. And it hardly matters that the road is clear.

Adaptive Traffic Control System (ATCS) utilized specific hardware and software that senses real-time traffic situation and vehicular movement. It is called intelligent system as it is capable of changing the lighting pattern according to present traffic data. It is a 21st-century solution for the increased demand for driving space in metro cities and busy highways. The system will keep the roads free of congestion all the time.

An intelligent system is very much needed to keep a tab over slow-moving vehicles, overloaded vehicles, speed alert and other issues related to traffic management. It creates a network of systems to bolster the present management to respond to real-time vehicular traffic and movement. It is the new age system that can sense emergency and open a free route to make way for emergency traffic.

Adaptive Traffic Control System (ATCS) responds to the real-time management need of the vehicles. It creates smart interjections where there are no crossings and improves traffic movement at the present interjections. It increases vehicular movement by reducing the flow of traffic. Also, it is easier to manage in comparison to the present manual system.
